Dear Fred,
May I also offer you my congratulations on
your elevation to the President of the American Medical
Association. I know you have received a flock of
messages of this sort, but I want you to know that I
was delighted when I read the news in the papers.
You have by this time realized as much as anyone
that the job during the next few years will be a
strenuous one and I wish you the best of health and
good fortune to carry it out successfully. I imagine
that Jew fellow in Chicago will not try to push you
around much; at least I hope he won’t.
More power to you, and my best wishes.
Sincerely,
  Dr. Fred W. Rankin
