The gerneral faculty met at the call of President Barker,

in the faculty room April 2%, with the following present:

 

President Barker, Professors Anderson, Barr, Carrel,
Chelkley, Dantzlor, Davis, Farquhar, Frankel, Freeman, German,
Gilbert, Gillie, Good, Grehen, Jones, Killebrew, Kinney, Judge
Lefferty, Dr. Mackenzie, Professors Mathews, Melcher, Killer,
Norwood, Dr. Pryor, Professor Rees, Miss Sweeny, Professor D.

Terrell, Dr. Tigert, Professor Turner, Dr. Tuthill, Lieut. Under—

 

wood, Professor Weaver, Professors Webb, Zembrod, Roberts.

President Barker stated that the purpose of the meeting
was to consider their report from the Committee of Deans in
reforence to the students recently suspended. Deon Miller pre-
sented a petition signed by 214 students, which read as follows:

"We, the student body of State University, Lexington, Ky.,
dc pledge the faculty that if there is a general amnesty extend-
ed to the students engaged in the hazing of Fishback, that We
will, for the future, abstain from all forms of hazing (includ~
ing the cutting of the freshmon's hair), and do all in our power
to prevent such breaches of the faculty rules by others.

And we pledge that we will exert our utmost endeavor to
build up a high moral tone on the campus and among the stu-
dents generally."

After general discussion, Judge Chalkley offered the fol-
lowing motion which was adopted:—

Movedthat upon the recommendation of the Committee of Deans

and under the condition of strict adherence to the pledge con-

tained in the petition of the students, the students mentioned

 

are hereby re—instated.
On motion of Judge Lafferty, it was voted, "That all charges

hereafter made against any student or students, for the violation

 

 

 

of any rule or rules of discipline of this University, shall be

 

 

brought before the Committee on Discipline for investigation,
and the said committee is vested with full power and authority

to fix such punishment in each case as the facts, in its judg-

 

ment may warrant under the University rules. There shall be no

appeal from the finding of the said Committee.“

 

On motion, meeting adjourned.
