 . BYRON (lord) Autograph Letter, signed "Byron." 2 pages, 4to. Reddish‘s Hotel,
July 16, 1811. In a halt morocco case. $ 75.00
‘*Iritten the day after Byron's arrival at London after his first trip to

Greece. It entirely concerns the financial difficulties with which he was
. beset at this period. In 1807 he had obtained a loan at ruinous rates of

interest, and in 1816 this use causing him much trouble.

"I have returned to England for the purpoae of arranging the business,
which shall be done as soon as I return from Lancashire where Mr. H. and
myself in a short time proceed. You are perhaps not aware of the illegality
of the transaction and if I hear that any further difficulty takes place
I shall be under the necessity of bringing the whole before the Court.....'
The name of the addressee is not given, but it is probably Hrs. Massingberd,
who had become security for himself in making the loan.
