     The Board of Trustees of the Agricultural and Mechanical
College of Kentucky met in regular session in the Presidentts
room at 1 P. My. December 8, 1896.

      Present:           Messrs.   Hart Boswell,
                                   Gen. D. C. Buell,
                                   J. C. Flournoy
                                   J. T. Gathright
                                   A. P. Gooding
                                   Geo. V. Green
                                   T. H. Hines
                                   E. H. Hobson
                                   J. B. Kennedy
                                   J. K. Patterson
                                   W. F. Peak
                                   Robt. Riddell
                                   R. A. Spurr
                                   Thos. Todd



      The Board was called to order by Mr. Gathright, the
last elected chairman.


      In the absence of Governor Bradley Mr. Gathright was
reelected chairman of the Board.



-    General Hobson was duly qualified by taking the
oath of office.



      The Chairman then announced the names of the following
gentlemen as members of the standing committees indicated,
Viz:

      The minutes of the previous meeting were read.


      On motion of Judge Riddell ordered that the minutes
be amended so as to show that the Treasurerss Bond for
the year ending J.             1897, was accepted and
approved by the Board of Trustees.



      The minutes of the last meeting were then approved.



      On motion of Mr. Spurr ordered that the offRicers of
the Board be authorized to prepare and sign a letter of
recommendation for Dr. S. E. Bennett.

     Mr. J. B. Keimedy asked to be excused at 2:30 P. M.
for the remainder of the day. There being no objection
he was excused by the chairman.



     The Minutes of the Executive Committee since the
last meeting of the Board were then read and referred to the
committee on the Minutes of the Executive Committee.



      On motion of General Buell ordered that the members
og the committee on the Minutes of the Executive Committee
be directed to consider the report of attendance by members
of the faculty at the Chapel services.



      The President read his report which was referred to
the Committee on the President's Report.



      The Business AgentTs Report and the Treasurer's
Report were each referred to the Committee on Finance
without being read.



      The Minutes of the Board of Control were read and
referred to the Committee on the Experiment Station.



      On motion of Mr. Flournoy ordered that the expenses
incurred by Mr. Boswell in going to Frankfort to see the
Governor about a called session of the Legislature be
paid to him.

      On motion of Judge Riddell ordered that Mr. E. F.
Brown be appointed to conduct the singing at the Chapel
exercises during the remainder of this collegiate year,
and that he be allowed a compensation of $50.00 for
this service.



      On motion of President Patterson ordered   that the
Board of Control be and are hereby authorized to expend
$600.00 in addition to the appropriation made in June last
for the completion of the Insectory Building already
erected.



      Mr. Flournoy moved that the Board elect an Executive
Committee, whereupon the Board elected the following as
members of   -    The Executive Committee



for the period ending June



1897

                           Robert Riddell,
                           R. A. Spurr, -



      On motion the Board adjourned to meet
December 9, 1896.
