Significance, nature, causes, and methods of control of

plant diSeases.

Lectures, 3 hours. Prereq: Botany 1.

(Effective September, 1953)

Course 141 will duplicate in effect course 23.

The course

as previously presented attracted mostly juniors, seniors and
graduate students, but the numbering worked to their disadvantage.
The subject matter itself and actual content of the course justify

the new numbering.

The change in credit from four to three hours

will alleviate some of the present scheduling difficulties.

Dean Spivey presented the following recommendations from the Graduate
Council which were approved by the University Faculty.

1. The Graduate Council recommends approval of graduate
credit for the following courses:

Agricultural Extension 101.
(3 credits)

Agricultural Extension Methods.

PhiIOSOphy, history and develOpment of Agricultural
Extension; evaluation of instructional techniques; leadera
ship training; and practiCe in use of Extension methods.

Three lectures per week.

Open to Juniors, Seniors and

Graduate Students.

Agricultural Extension 110.

In this course the student learns something of the Ohm
jectives and how public and private agriCultural agencies
and organizations work together for the improvament of
agriculture.

Agronomy 101.

Pasture Production and Management. (3 credits}

 

The selection of pasture craps and their establishment,
fertilization and management for temporary or permanent

pastures.

Farm Engineering 106.

Lecture and recitation, 3 hours,

Advanced Farm Machinery, (3 credits)

 

Selection. Operation and maintenance of farm machinery

with emphasis on powerwdriven machines.

Analysis of the

machinery needs of farms, adjustments and servicing of
machines.
