Miss Laura Clay,

Dear Miss Ulay:

Last year The Associated Press desired a sketch of your life and
work for use in connection with a story it was developing but none
was abailable at the time. I have been unable to find one in the.
files here and I am going to ask your help in getting one for us;

If you are unable to think of one that we could locate to copy
I certainly would appreciate it if you would prepare one. Frequently
we have need of sketches of this kind and I am endeavoring to gather
as manya as possible for filing here to be used in connection with
appointments, promotions, or other honors.

while we want considerable statistical matter, still we would
prefer something that would have news merit as well. I would like
your sketch to be from 1,000 to 1,250 words in length, if is possible
to so condense it.

I realize that we generally prefer someone else to do the writing
when we are directly concerned but this is one case when the "subject"
alone is best qualified to speak. I am exceedingly anxious to get
this material together before the meeting of the next legislature and
I will.appreciate any effort that you may make to let me have it
soon.

May I hear from you in this connection?
Sincerely s,

MWQW WMZ) .
